Top Things to Do at CocoCay: Snorkeling, Thrill Waterpark & More

Last Updated: October 1, 2025

The following is written by TravelPerks’ Marketing Manager, Becca Pirwitz.

I recently had the chance to experience Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, during the preview sailing of Star of the Seas in August—and I can’t wait to return.

If you’re planning a cruise stop here, you might be wondering: What are the best things to do at CocoCay? From snorkeling and waterslides to floating in a saltwater lagoon, this island is packed with unforgettable experiences. Here are my favorite activities and insider tips from my very first visit.

1. Snorkeling at CocoCay – Especially for Rays

For me, snorkeling is always a must. If you’re the same, CocoCay won’t disappoint. Head straight to Chill Island and dive in—you’ll find plenty of colorful fish and, if you’re lucky, some majestic rays.

During my visit, I found myself just ten feet above the largest ray I’ve ever seen, watching in awe as it woke up and glided away. Truly unforgettable!

Hot tip: Bring your own snorkel gear if you can, or rent a set directly on the island.

2. Thrill Waterpark – A Must-Do for Waterslide Lovers

One of the most talked-about things to do at CocoCay is Thrill Waterpark, and it definitely lives up to the hype.

If you’re a thrill-seeker, you’ll want to try Daredevil’s Tower—it gave me one of the biggest adrenaline rushes I’ve had in years. Plus, the panoramic views of The Bahamas from the top are some of the best on the island.

If towering slides aren’t your thing, Splash Summit offers plenty of fun at a gentler pace.

Hot tip: Visit later in the afternoon when crowds tend to thin out.

3. Hideaway Beach – Relax in a Saltwater Lagoon

If relaxation is more your style, one of the best places to spend the day at CocoCay is Hideaway Beach, the island’s adults-only area.

We spent hours drifting lazily in the saltwater lagoon, lounging under a palapa, and enjoying drinks brought directly to us by Royal Caribbean’s amazing bar staff. It was the perfect balance to all the action elsewhere on the island.

Hot tip: Take the complimentary tram to Hideaway Beach to save your steps (or if you have mobility concerns).

4. More Things to Do at Perfect Day at CocoCay

I went in thinking one full day would be more than enough to explore CocoCay. I was wrong! Between snorkeling, slides, lagoon floating, and countless other areas I didn’t even get to, there’s still so much more left to discover.

Whether you’re traveling with kids, friends, or just your partner, you’ll find that Perfect Day at CocoCay offers something for everyone. Plus: Both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises (part of Royal Caribbean Group) offer itineraries that sail here.

I, for one, can’t wait to go back and experience even more of the amazing things to do at CocoCay.
