Travel Advisors Make Largest Booking in Royal Caribbean International History

Last Updated: April 7, 2024

Cruising is back, and consumers are looking for the personalized service of a travel advisor to plan their next vacation. According to the American Society of Travel Advisors and Sandals Resorts, after the pandemic, nearly half of travelers (44%) are more likely to use a travel advisor. Theresa Graham and Gary Smith, co-owners of TravelPerks – Dream Vacations in Eugene, make it their mission to go above and beyond for their clients, and it paid off in a big way. They recently made history with Royal Caribbean International’s largest booking ever when they booked their loyal clients in the Royal Suite on the cruise line’s first-of-its-kind Ultimate World Cruise aboard Serenade of the Seas.

TravelPerks – Dream Vacations prides itself on offering outstanding personalized service and unmatched professionalism. Smith started TravelPerks – Dream Vacations nearly 18 years ago with the belief that a travel agency can offer great value and build relationships through travel. Agency Co-Owner Graham noted, “For this client, we have scheduled and rescheduled multiple cruises, and I have been managing his many cruise credits, serving as an advocate and always acting in his best interest. He knows that he is my client and trusts me to take great care of him. When he advised he was considering this sailing, I immediately called and held the Royal Suite for him.”

While they have been clients since 2012, and have many other upcoming sailings scheduled through TravelPerks – Dream Vacations, at the time of the booking for Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate World Cruise, the client was also working with another travel agency to receive cruise credits on a group cruise that had been canceled. Knowing Graham has always been responsive and finds ways to get things accomplished, this client called Graham and she was able to use her high-level contacts at the cruise line for a swift and seamless resolution. The Ultimate World Cruise opened for reservations at around the same time, and Graham’s quick action and award-winning service resulted in this client checking another item off their bucket list.

“The confidence in cruising continues to bounce back at a rate we’re all excited to see. And dedicated travel advisors, like Theresa [Graham] and Gary [Smith] at Dream Vacations, are playing a big part in Royal Caribbean’s successful comeback,” said Vicki Freed, senior vice president of sales, and trade support & service, Royal Caribbean International. “Families and friends are ready to make up for lost time, whether it’s on the Ultimate World Cruise, a seven-night adventure in Europe or short getaways to the Caribbean. Seeing the largest booking in our history come in is a perfect example of the many opportunities the travel partner community can seize today.”

On Dec. 10, 2023, Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas will set sail from Miami, Fla., on an epic 274-night adventure to visit all seven continents, more than 150 destinations in 65 countries, and 11 wonders of the world. It is the longest and most comprehensive world cruise ever. Highlights along the way will include Peru to see Machu Picchu; the Great Wall of China; the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt; Casablanca, Morocco; Qaqortoq, Greenland; and Shimizu, Japan – the gateway to Mount Fuji; and much more.
