First Look: Norwegian Luna
Last Updated: April 10, 2026
The following is written by TravelPerks’ Marketing Manager, Becca Pirwitz, who attended the christening sailing of the Norwegian Luna on March 27-30, 2026.
I recently had the privilege of attending the christening sailing of the newest ship in Norwegian’s fleet, the Luna, and wanted to be sure to give our clients some updates as to what’s new with this class of ship!
Ship Background
First and foremost, the Norwegian Luna is the newest ship in Norwegian’s Fleet, and technically belongs to the “Prima Plus Class”. Ships that predate the Luna include the Prima, Viva, and Aqua. That being said, this class is really a modernized version of the Prima and Breakaway class, including ships such as the Encore and Bliss (both which currently sail Alaska in the summer).
If you’ve sailed on a Prima or Breakaway class ship, the Luna will look quite familiar to you, at least in terms of overall layout and features.
Public Spaces on The NCL Luna
Ocean Boulevard
I have to start with one of my favorite areas on the ship (and, quite frankly, any ship): Ocean Boulevard. For those unfamiliar, this is an open-air wraparound space on deck 8 that wraps all the way around the entire ship. One of my biggest gripes on many ships is that there aren’t enough spaces to really connect you to and allow you to enjoy the ocean. This is where I praise Norwegian for this.
Ocean Boulevard features outdoor seating areas of bars and restaurants on deck 8, plus just some cozy areas to hunker down and watch the ocean pass you by. This feature began on the Breakaway class ships and, in my opinion, has only gotten better with the latest model.
On the Luna, Ocean Boulevard returns but is even better in several ways:
- You can now make a full, complete lap! When I sailed on the Encore, you could only take a lap around about three-quarters of the ship. Now, Norwegian has made this possible. This was great any time we wanted to get some steps in or simply soak in the ocean views while being active in the morning or evening.
- Infinity Beach Pools – This was one of my new favorite features. Two infinity pools have been added (one starboard, one port). There’s nothing I want more while on a cruise than being in a pool while being able to enjoy the ocean, and this was the best I’ve experienced that so far on a contemporary ship.
- Oceanwalk – Last, but not least, part of Ocean Boulevard now boasts glass-panel floors, giving a thrilling experience to connect you even closer with the ocean over which you’re sailing.
The Stadium
The Stadium was probably our biggest surprise of our cruise and not where we had imagined we’d spend a good chunk of our time. This area near the aft of the ship is essentially a fun-plex, including shuffleboard, foosball tables, pickleball, ping pong, carnival style games, all next to the Bullseye Bar with darts.
This area provided nice activities for when we wanted to do more than just sit and relax with a cocktail.
Entertainment & Attractions on the Luna
Slidecoaster
Let’s start with what I was most excited for: The Aqua Slidecoaster. While Norwegian featured go-karts on their Breakaway-Plus and previous Prima class ships until they debuted this attraction on the Aqua. I love go karts, but I found the wait to be long on these previous ships. So, as a fan of both waterslides and rollercoasters, I welcomed the change.
For those unfamiliar, the Aqua Slidecoaster is a pair of dueling waterslides where you launch up to speeds of 30 miles per hour and then whirl around the track in your raft.
The verdict? This attraction is a lot of fun. The launch is absolutely thrilling and my heart genuinely left my chest the first time in response to just how fast you go at the start. I found myself smiling giddily during the whole ride and making my way back in line immediately.
Tee Time Mini Golf
If you’ve made it this far in the blog, I think it’s pretty clear that I may just be a big kid at heart with my love of foosball, waterslides, go karts, and more. So it should come as no surprise that mini golf is one of my ultimate favorite activities.
I was excited to try out Tee Time and the experience certainly did not disappoint. This ship’s course includes twelve unique holes, each inspired by a different city of country. What made this is experience so wonderful was twofold:
- The Obstacles – There’s nothing worse than a disappointing mini golf course that does not include obstacles, trap doors, and impressive displays. I’m happy to report NCL’s Tee Time is both a wonderful spectacle and well-designed holes throughout the entire course.
- Ball Tracker – Forget the pen and paper! Your ball has an automatic tracking system in it to record your strokes and multipliers. All you have to do is start your game at the kiosk, enter your name, and the machine programs your ball for you. I was skeptical this would work so well but it was absolutely flawless.
It should also be noted that the newest Moon Climber is one attraction we did not experience on this cruise, though it looked like fun for all ages from what we saw.
Dining on the Luna: Shout Out to Indulge Food Hall
We were grateful to have the opportunity for two nights of specialty dining during this cruise, but the real hero we’d like to bring light to is Indulge Food Hall.
We’ve seen a trend towards this type of dining, and Norwegian is going all in on it, as well. The Indulge Food Hall falls between your main dining room and a buffet. Here, it’s open seating and you order from several different food stalls directly from an iPad. Everything’s made fresh.
We tried a good majority of the menu from each of the food stalls, and the Indian food was quite a winner. This food station even had two tandoor ovens onboard, making fresh naan to order. (Another nice feature is the windows they added next to these ovens so you can watch the chefs at work.)
We had no problem finding space for an early evening snack or dinner, though lunch was quite busy during peak hours.
Final Thoughts
We had a wonderful time on our 3-night christening sailing of the newest ship in the fleet, the Norwegian Luna. There is no shortage of areas to lounge, relax, and take in the ocean views paired with both big attractions and low-key activities fun for people of all ages.
